3 Books I’m Reading This December

December 9

It’s hard to find time to read in December. My Christmas to-do lists are long and sitting down to open a book isn’t a priority. But in between online shopping and music rehearsals, I’m enjoying a few rich books this month. Here are three:

  1. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

It’s been too long since I picked up this classic, and I thought it would be the perfect read for cold December evenings.

  1. Love Came Down at Christmas by Sinclair B. Ferguson

We’re reading through this book as a family, leading up to Christmas. In a bit of a twist, Ferguson uses 1 Corinthians 13—the love chapter—to unpack his message about Christ’s incarnation. So far, the point that’s impacted me most is this: True, sacrificial love always comes down. It descends to the level of whomever it loves. It sacrifices itself.

  1. Zechariah

I’m almost done reading through the Prophets! Zechariah is a book quoted throughout the New Testament, especially in Revelation. It’s incredible to watch so many prophesies personified in Jesus Christ and to anticipate those he will someday fulfill.

I hope you can find at least a bit of time to read this December! If you’re looking for more Christmas material, I recommend my friend Gia’s blog, Between the Paws. She is posting an advent article each day this month.

Happy Sunday,

Bethany J.
