June Smiles

June 30

Starting today, I’ll be compiling a list of my favorite things at the end of each month instead of my usual Sunday Snippet!

Here’s what made me smile in June:

Westcliffe, Colorado

Okay. Our entire trip out West was beautiful– from Oklahoma to Texas to Santa Fe. But there’s just something about Colorado. And I so enjoyed visiting somewhere totally new. Westcliffe (called “Your Grandpa’s Colorado” by locals) was underrated and striking. The town was quaint and welcoming. The hikes were fantastic.

Faithful Women and Their Extraordinary God by Noel Piper

This is a super book by John Piper’s wife that digs into the lives of five women– Sarah Edwards, Lilias Trotter, Gladys Aylward, Esther Ahn Kim, and Helen Roseveare. Their stories are inspiring and challenging me.

Writing

Writing is always my passion, but this month, I’ve seen serious productivity in this area. It’s been encouraging. I’m learning to ignore my inner critic while I write, letting the words carve their own path more freely.

She Reads Truth Bible

For high school graduation, my church gifted me with this beautiful (hardcover!) Bible. I’ve grown up using the ESV translation, so this CSB version is refreshing for a change. And the margins are a dream come true.

VBS

Vacation Bible School is one of my all-time favorite church outreaches. Last week, I got to lead a group of kiddos (six of them boys:) from station to station as we learned more about God’s Word. This year, my brother led worship music and I played along. It was a blast.

What made you happy in June? I’d love to hear!

See ya,

Bethany J.

  1. Such an awesome idea for a blog post, Bethany! Hmmm…what made me smile in June? I’ve been so busy I hardly know what I did in June! The Sock Hop (swing dancing) was fun! So is game night at our friend’s house every-other week, and volleyball with our church on Sunday evenings. 🙂
