My friend and fellow writer, Grace Maples, asked me to write a guest post for her blog this past week. The theme of her current series is Living Intentionally in Light of Eternity. I chose a topic to write on that has been massively significant in my life lately:
Quiet Time
The culmination of a school year and entry into summer break always breeds anticipation. From pools to parties to books to barbecues, the list of summer day activities can stretch far. This year, though, a new excitement was added to my mental list: Morning quiet time unhindered by a school schedule.
It hasn’t always been like this. Bible reading has become a daily duty in my life more times than I can count. It’s the guiltiness and weight of this drudgery that has created within me a deep thankfulness for the longing I feel now.
My quiet time with the Lord is vital, because it forces me to look and live beyond the tangibles of this world. It compels me to set my heart and mind on things above. And it trains me to live intentionally in light of eternity.
