Wit and Wisdom from the Benham Brothers

David and Jason Benham are identical twin brothers, ex-Major Leaguers, successful business partners and unwavering Christ-followers. In their book Whatever the Cost, the brothers share the triumphs and trials of their journeys of faith, from the professional baseball field to the abrupt cancellation of a promising television show.

Throughout their book, the Benham brothers share clips of wisdom and impactful quotes. Today, I want to share a few of them with you.

When God gives you something, you must hold it with an open hand. Otherwise, if he decides to remove it, He’ll have to pry your fingers loose. Holding your dreams with an open hand requires that you focus on the God of the dream and not the dream that God gives.

The same boiling water that hardens the egg softens the carrot. It’s not the water that makes the difference—it’s the substance of what’s in the water. As a Christian, your life will harden some people and soften others. You don’t have to worry which one it is—you just stay hot for Christ and let him take care of the rest.[i]

Have a super Sunday,

Bethany J.
