Pray For The Persecuted Church
“The martyrs did not die because they believed the Gospel, they died because they proclaimed the Gospel.” -David Platt
Today is a Sunday set apart to pray for those persecuted around the globe for gathering as a body to proclaim and worship Jesus Christ. Unlike us, who can congregate when and where we want to worship, the church bodies in other countries face disapproval, danger, and death for their faith.
Last Wednesday, a group of members from my church gathered together in the dark to identify with and pray for the persecuted church. The experience, though far from entirely realistic, shed new light on what exactly Christians around the globe are experiencing. We sang songs, prayed, and watched this video.
Join me in lifting up the persecuted church in prayer today.
We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifest in our bodies. (2 Cor. 4:8-10) ESV
